The adventure starts in
the Alaskan Bay of Prudhoe, a small town facing the cold
Artic Ocean.
We will drive across the northwest of Canada (Yukon Territory,
British Columbia and Alberta) and the USA
states of Montana, Utah, Idaho and Texas.
We will enter México across
the northern state of Sonora. (The time to practice Spanish
has come: Una cerveza, por favor!)
It's fiesta time in
México: they also celebrate their
200 years of Independence !!!
The Mexican people greet us
in the cities of Durango, Zactecas, the Federal District, Puebla, Oaxaca,
among others.
We desembark at Cartagena, Colombia.- From
Colombia we drive to Caracas, Venezuela thru the coastal highway
overlookink Lake Maracaibo and the Caribbean. From Caracas we
drive now along the inland roads thru the Andes mointains back to
Colombia.- (We definitely
have to have a cup of coffee in Colombia!).
It's fiesta time also in
Colombia !!!
We reach Chilean territory
crossing the border at Visviri; we will drive thru the Atacama
Desert. Then the cities of Iquique, Antofagasta and La
Serena. We visit Plaza México at Viña del Mar on
September 16 th, day of the
Bicentenario de México
We return to Chile. We reach Puerto
Natales and at Punta Arenaswe will take a 'barcaza' (ferry) and after 36 hours of sailing we will
desembark at Puerto Williams..
We continue to Caleta Eugenia and finally Puerto Toro
- our goal - the southernmost settlement of
the world.
If you are having the sense that
there is no much world left around you, you are correct! The caravan
has reached the end of the world!
